What to Include When CV Writing!
Struggling to create your CV? Just left school and not sure what to write? Confused? Frustrated? Or just want to improve your CV?
Don’t worry, we are here to help with that!
CVs are very important when it comes to job hunting as your potential employer can see what skills and experience you have that will co-inside with the job you’re applying for!
Sticking to the basics is a good place to start; Personal details such as full name, number, email address and a brief description about yourself and your experience to give your potential employer an idea of who you are.
Then we move to core skills, this can be from personal skills such as punctuality or honesty or/and professional skills such as admin or customer service. Any type of skills that will help you in your workplace are worth listing (just don’t drag it on too long!).
Next is employment; Ensure your most recent role is at the beginning then work backwards from that role as it is a lot easier for your potential employer to review your most recent roles, as your experience can correspond to the role you are applying for. If you’re a school leaver, simply write a few sentences saying what type of role you are looking for and include some personal skills that could be used within the role you are looking for.
Education & Qualifications follows Employment, a few little bullet points of which qualifications you have such as A-Levels or University Qualifications. Again, if a school leaver who has not received exam results simply put your predicted grades, then update as soon as you get your exam result.
Last but not least, and optional, is interests. Anything you do such as hobbies or activities you partake in, such as baking, arts & crafts or even sports. This just adds a little bit more information about yourself.
We hope that this has answered some of your questions about CV writing and if not, here is a “What to include when CV writing” help sheet that you can use for prompts when writing.
