PR & Communications Manager | Hybrid (York + UK Travel) | £35,000 – £42,000

We’re working with a leading veterinary group who are looking for an experienced PR & Communications Manager to help elevate their visibility, strengthen their reputation, and connect emotionally with pet owners across the UK and Ireland.

About the Role

Working closely with the PR & Communications Director, you’ll play a key part in shaping and delivering a strategic comms approach that raises national awareness of the brand and highlights what sets the group apart.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced PR all-rounder who can identify stories, build media connections, and create compelling content that supports both the veterinary practices and the overarching group brand.

You’ll lead on consumer-focused PR activity across the UK and Ireland, champion great storytelling, and support with high-level communications advice, including crisis management when needed.

This is a hybrid role with regular travel across the UK and scheduled time each week at the York head office—perfect for someone who enjoys working with a wide range of people, practices, and media contacts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver PR strategies and campaigns that build brand awareness among pet owners and the wider public.

• Write engaging, accurate and on-brand content – including press releases, case studies, media statements, blog posts and web stories.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with national, regional and trade journalists and influencers.

• Source and develop real-life client stories that showcase the exceptional care delivered across the practices.

• Plan and lead integrated PR campaigns alongside digital and social colleagues for maximum impact.

• Support crisis and issues communications, providing guidance to senior leaders and managing media enquiries when required.

• Ensure all communications align with brand values and business priorities.

About You

You’re a confident communicator with a flair for storytelling and a genuine passion for building strong, positive brand reputations. You enjoy working with people, thrive under pressure when needed, and bring energy, organisation, and initiative to everything you do.

You’ll need:

• At least 5 years’ experience in consumer PR, ideally in a fast-paced, high-profile or multi-site environment.

• A proven track record of securing media coverage and running successful PR campaigns.

• Strong journalist relationships across national, regional and sector press.

• Excellent writing skills and the ability to craft compelling narratives.

• A proactive, collaborative mindset with the confidence to work independently when required.

• Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

• Up-to-date knowledge of communications trends, channels and techniques.

• CIPR membership and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
