We are recruiting Support Workers to join a children’s residential home supporting children and young people with learning disabilities, autism, and behaviours that may challenge.
This is a rewarding, hands-on role where you will play a key part in creating a safe, nurturing, and positive environment. You will support young people with their daily routines, emotional wellbeing, and personal development, helping them to feel secure, valued, and empowered.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to children and young people
- Promote trauma-informed and inclusive care practices
- Support young people to develop independence, confidence, and life skills
- Implement agreed behaviour support strategies, including de-escalation and PBS
- Maintain accurate records including daily logs and incident reports
- Follow safeguarding procedures and raise concerns appropriately
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent care across shifts
- Participate in handovers, team meetings, and training
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities, autism, or behaviours that challenge
- A caring, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and work flexibly
- Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
- Willingness to work shifts, including sleep-ins
Previous experience in a residential children’s setting is desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
Additional Requirements
- Enhanced DBS check (essential)
- Full UK driving licence
Qualifications & Training
Relevant training such as Autism Awareness, Safeguarding, PBS, or Trauma-Informed Practice (desirable)
