This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and proactive adviser to play a key role in delivering business support, driving tenant engagement, and contributing to regional economic growth.
The Role
This is a rewarding, outward-facing role where you will support a diverse range of businesses across several vibrant business centres in Sunderland.
You will act as a trusted adviser, working closely with tenants to understand their goals, provide tailored guidance, and connect them with the resources they need to grow and thrive.
This role offers excellent variety, combining one-to-one support, event delivery, stakeholder engagement, and programme development — ideal for someone who enjoys a people-focused and impactful position.
Key Responsibilities
Tenant Engagement & Business Support
- Building strong, trusted relationships with tenants across multiple business centres
- Delivering structured one-to-one business advice and support sessions
- Identifying business needs and developing practical growth plans
- Providing ongoing support to encourage engagement and long-term development
Events, Programmes & Community Building
- Designing and delivering workshops, events, and business support initiatives
- Supporting the promotion of programmes and celebrating tenant success stories
- Identifying opportunities for collaboration and new initiatives
- Creating an engaging and supportive business community environment
Partnerships & Ecosystem Engagement
- Connecting businesses with funding opportunities, specialist advisers, and support networks
- Building relationships with regional partners, stakeholders, and organisations
- Acting as an ambassador to promote the centres and attract new opportunities
- Supporting networking activity across the local business ecosystem
Monitoring, Reporting & Impact
- Maintaining accurate records of tenant engagement and support activity
- Contributing to reporting against KPIs and programme outcomes
- Supporting case studies and impact reporting to demonstrate success
About You
We’re looking for a proactive, relationship-driven individual who is passionate about helping businesses succeed.
You’ll be confident working independently, building rapport with a wide range of stakeholders, and delivering high-quality support in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Skills & Experience Required
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Experience providing business advice, coaching, or enterprise support
- Excellent communication skills, including presenting and facilitating sessions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across different locations
- Proactive and self-motivated approach with strong organisational skills
- Experience working with SMEs, start-ups, or growing businesses
- Knowledge of business growth areas such as finance, funding, operations, or leadership
- Experience delivering or supporting events, workshops, or programmes
- Ability to signpost businesses to external support and opportunities
Desirable
- Experience within digital, tech, manufacturing, or professional services sectors
- Familiarity with business centres, coworking spaces, or incubator environments
- Knowledge of the Sunderland or wider Northeast business support landscape
